Corner News Media, a local Brooklyn news network, created an online tree map during the Hurricane which detailed the spots of downed trees throughout the neighborhood. According to The Observer, the map was created by a network of readers and tipsters instead of on-the-street reporting. Liena Zagare, the publisher of Corner News, said, “It’s mostly about having credible sources.” Zagare foresaw the issues that trees in Ditmas park could create for residents.

The website features a masthead of one full-time reporter, a managing editor, and two contributors. It has a similar mission to Patch, which bought Zagare’s original neighborhood blog before she left to start Corner news.
