As online sales gain traction, Black Friday’s allure may diminish. According to Christian Post, online retailers are using Cyber Monday to compete with Black Friday sales. In order to keep up, stores such as Wal-Mart and Sears are opening Thursday night instead of early Friday morning.

Troy Rice, chief of store operations at Toys”R”Us, told USA Today that, “You can have your dinner, then come to our store. We all know that everybody gets burned out on turkey and football.” Macy’s isn’t waiting for Thanksgiving. The store is already offering a 20-50 percent discount on its website, and throwing in free shipping for orders over $99.  Kohl’s online sale lasts from Wednesday through Friday at 3pm. JC Penny starts its online sale Thanksgiving Day.
