It took nearly two years, but Google finally displayed a large white logo on its Eighth Ave. building. The sign, placed just above the gold imprint “The Port of New York Authority,” was hung during a weekend. Google has occupied the block-wide Port Authority Commerce Building since 2006. The building is located above one of the city’s largest fiber optic highways. It eventually bought the Chelsea landmark for $1.9 billion in 2010. Buzzfeed reported that a Google spokesperson didn’t have an explanation for the delay.
