CEO Perry Chen said that Kickstarter is not for sale. Nor will the company have an IPO. Speaking at the GigaOM Roadmap conference in San Francisco, Chen also said they aren’t interested in joining the equity crowdfunding space. Since April 2009, Kickstarted has guided almost $50 million into 76,000 projects. Kickstarter’s most disruptive aspect is actually the removal of the investment component, according to Chen. Instead of investing for profit, people invest in projects because they just want to see them happen.
