Etsy is on track to gross as much as $1 billion in revenue this year. According to Business Insider, the Brooklyn-based online marketplace’s gross sales exceeded $800 million by the end of November, which was its first $100 million month. December sales are expected surpass that amount.
CEO Chad Dickerson says the company’s success is rooted in the connection between sellers and buyers. They build community groups that collaborate and share ideas. The mayor of Rockford, Illinois even approached Dickerson for advice on encouraging the growth of small craft businesses.
