The NY-based flower delivery company H.Bloom is launching a new employee-training program. CEO Bryan Burkhart calls it “H.Bloom University.” The program offers junior level-employees sales, operations and management training. VentureBeat reports that the professional development is an expansion of its Start-up Education and Entrepreneurial Development—or SEED. Burkhart says that he was inspired by his first job in Austin, Tex. at a company called Trilogy that offered employees a lot of learning opportunities.
Next year, the program will expand to include the company’s floral designers. “It’s unusual for a startup to say on the first day of your new job that one of its goals is to help you develop skills so you can become the very best person you can be,” he told VentureBeat. “My goal is that if employees leave, they will have more skills than they did when they started. That the company cares about every individual getter better has been a big deal.”
