Hailo is taking on Uber in NY. All Things D reported that the London-based company is raising a $30 million funding round with a likely lead investor of Union Square Ventures’s Fred Wilson. Now that the city has greenlighted a pilot ehail app program for taxis, VentureBeat writes that Hailo’s method of empowering existing cabs and working directly with drivers is a better fit for NY. The company already has apps in Boston and Chicago and covers 15 percent of London’s cabs.
