According to Bloomberg, 2012 is the first year ever that The New York Times will earn more revenue from subscriptions than from advertising. Digital subscriptions alone are expected to earn $91 million, according to analyst Douglas Arthur at Evercore Partners. The paywall accounts for 12 percent of total subscription sales—which is projected to be more than $768.3 million. Total subscriptions generated $52.8 million more than advertising.
