Time Warner announced its NY customers with standard internet service would get 50 percent faster download speeds for standard Internet service. Customers can download content at 15 Mbps, up from 10 Mbps. Upgrades will start later this month, but customers can get the faster service immediately by resetting modems and rebooting computers, according to The New York Observer.
Time Warner is also adding a $3.95 rental fee for cable modems. According to PC World subscribers can’t avoid the charge by purchasing their own modems.
