SL Green Realty Corp. and Vornado Realty Trust are hoping that a new generation of digital billboards in Times Square will be major moneymakers. Currently billboard space runs between $300,000 – $400,000 a month, typically under long-term contracts, according to Crain’s New York Business. But new digital signs open up the potential for shorter-term contracts for as much as $40,000 a day during peak tourist seasons. Advertisers are clamoring to break into the new and expensive market. “The advertisers understand it’s all about location, location, location,” Brian Turner of Sherwood Outdoor, told Crain’s.
