At the Consumer Electronics Show this week, Cablevision Systems announced a new deal with Netflix to send Internet video directly into the MSO’s network. That will allow subscriber access to high-bandwidth content including Super HD and 3DTV Netflix content. The financial terms of the deal were not made public, according to Multichannel News.

Cablevision will make use of Netflix’ Open Connect private delivery network. It currently serves Netflix users in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Latin America. The private CDN allows Netflix to deliver Super HD and 3D formats, instead of relying on third-party ISPs or the public Internet. Netflix has previously claimed that bandwidth caps and usage-based pricing threaten Internet video’s future and violate network neutrality principles.
