Center4 is a new accelerator that develops technology for nonprofits. It was developed by FEGS Health and Human Services, one of NY State’s largest nonprofits. With an advisory committee that includes representatives from the Foundation Center, the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of NY, Forrester Research and New York Angels, it is a kind of fourth sector that combines the efforts of government, for-profit and nonprofit entities. Crain’s New York Business reported that Center4 will not be a typical accelerator. Instead of investing in startups, it will bring investors and entrepreneurs together. It plans to raise funds from foundations and corporations and socially responsible sponsors.
