Dogpatch Labs is closing its NY office. According to Xconomy, the startup incubator developed by Polaris Ventures will shut down in a few months time. Their Palo Alto office is also closing. “Those markets have really developed differently than they have in Cambridge and Dublin,” Polaris partner Dave Barrett told Xconomy. Both cities have developed other, similar communities—such as General Assembly, 500 Startups and several other co-working centers. Instead, Polaris wants to pursue a “distributed approach” in NY by working with schools, faculty and student entrepreneurs and serving as mentors in accelerator programs and other types of startup outreach.
