The cooking startup Food52 recently closed a $2 million round with 13 investors. The New York Observer reports that Ken Lerer of Lerer Ventures is one of the investors. His firm also participated in the startup’s $750,000 seed round. Amanda Hesser, a former New York Times food editor, and Merrill Stubs, who co-authored The Essential New York Times Cookbook with Hesser, are the co-founders. The team also produced a crowd-sourced cookbook in 2011. The site features recipes, a hotline for answering food questions and recipe contests.
