Meetups are a great way for people to polish both tech and social skills. For about $5 or $10, you can go to a Web Performance Meetup, mingle, eat pizza, drink beer and find out how to make a website speedier. Pax Dickinson writes in Business Insider he always learns something new there. He also likes NY MongoDB User Group, run by the Community Managers at 10Gen. Sign up early, he advises, because spots fill up fast. Dickinson runs the NYC Varnish Cache meetup but he’s incorporating it into the NY Web Tech Scaling group. Its first meetup is Tuesday, Jan. 29.
