NY business owners are getting a new, real time city service. The Department of Consumer Affairs unveiled a live chat feature that provides real time answers to questions from Monday through Friday between 9:30 am and 5 pm. The format, which looks like Gchat, makes it easier for businesses to avoid violations, DCA Commissioner Jonathan Mintz told Crain’s New York Business. Questions about the finer points of confusing rules are answered instantaneously by one of three trained professionals on the other side of the screen. “The irony is that our phone lines are still down, post-Sandy, but the live chat works,” Mintz told Crain’s.
