Bloomberg Announces Public Schools For Software Engineering Pilot

As part of his new efforts to increase technology education in NY, Mayor Bloomberg has announced the 20 public schools in Manhattan that will be participating in a software engineering pilot program. The program will begin in the fall and is designed to prepare students for future work in the tech sector. It will focus on 3-D printing, computer science and programming, robotics, web design, embedding electronics, and e-textiles. In the fall, the program will consist of 1,000 students but is expected to expand to 3,500 by 2016.
