Finding and hiring a chief technology officer is a difficult task for tech companies. A good CTO is essential for startups—which depend on them to take their fledgling companies to the next–and profitable level. But in NY, startups have to compete with hedge funds, banks, not to mention Google, Microsoft and Facebook. Crain’s New York Business reports that CTOs at large firms make salaries of $225,000. But at a startup, they make significantly less. That means startup founders have to invest a lot of time and energy in recruiting.
