Three independent bookstores in NY have filed a class-action lawsuit claiming that independent booksellers will be at risk because of confidential agreements between Amazon and the six largest U.S. publishers.
Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza in Albany, Fiction Addiction in Greenville, and Posman books in NYC claim that because many ebooks are available only on Amazon and because Amazon control a high percentage of the ebook market, independent bookstores have not been able to join the ebook market.
The suits wants to make it so that open-source and DRM-free ebooks can be read on the Kindle and other ereaders.
