NY Tech Meetup creator Dawn Barber began her tech career 15 years ago without even having an email account. Now her 2004 creation is the platform for over 30,000 companies.
Barber, who had a degree in English and had previous pursued careers in art and antiques, found her niche in the tech scene when she helped a friend plan for events at the New York New Media Association.
She’s now a board member at NYTM and believes that NY technology can produce change in new ways, including in the political scene. The NYTM is going to be hosting candidate forums for the upcoming November city elections.
