An educational group in NYC launched a student and parent-friendly guide to the over 500 high schools in the city.  Although it was launched too late to help this year’s eighth graders decide on a high school, the goal was to go beyond the Department of Education’s grading system and include class size, uniforms, shared spaces, and whether or not the school has metal detectors. They also include Advanced Placement test pass rates at each school.

Among other data, the site found large differences in students perceived safety, inspiration, and advanced placement test pass rates at various schools in the five boroughs.
