Having worked in both Silicon Alley and Silicon Valley, RRE Ventures Co-founder Jim Robinson knows how each city works. Using that knowledge, he told Forbes that the customs of the two coasts, will never meet.
Robinson said that the next major media public company will likely come from NYC since it is a business center with energy, talent, and the right information to do so. Comparing the two, he said that Silicon Valley has more of the information technology, hard science, semiconductors and labs whereas NYC is more focused on using the technology platforms than creating them. The investments in startups are 20-30 percent less in the Alley than in the Valley as well.
